At HJHansen Recycling, we have our product manager Christian following every fraction of brass alloys coming into our sites, ensuring that each quality is handled and sent to a refinery enabling the best possible recycling.
Brass is alloys of copper and zinc, with up to 50% zinc and often small amounts of other alloying elements. Between 1/4 and 1/3 of all copper is used in the form of brass, which, next to steel, constitutes the largest group of used alloys. Brass is stronger and harder than pure copper while also being more cost-effective. These alloys are also easier to process, including casting and machining. They generally have good corrosion resistance.
